Jane Marsden Counselling

An experienced individual, couples and family counsellor who has worked in Australia and Asia, Jane sees her role as respectfully “walking alongside” clients as they uncover their innate strengths and wisdom.
She encourages them to gently begin approaching challenges, clarifying goals and implementing proven ways to achieve them. Guided by research revealing we are hard-wired to connect and be accepted, Jane reassures clients that they are not alone in their struggles.
Each session is tailored to individual clients’ needs and preferences, and may incorporate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT or EFFT), Integrative Behavioural Couples Therapy (IBCT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Positive Psychology, mindfulness or play therapy.
Jane has worked with couples, families and individuals experiencing challenges including infidelity, separation, blended families and parenting as a family counsellor and educator for Relationships Australia. Jane is a member, and bound by the ethical codes, of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and the Australian Counselling Association. She is also editor of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Journal of Australia, an international, peer-reviewed, scholarly journal which seeks to advance quality research in the fields of psychotherapy, counselling, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healing practices.
